Land Rover unveils the new Range Rover hybrids
Land Rover has unveiled the Range Rover and the Range Rover hybrid versions at the Frankfurt Motor Show today. To embark the launch of these products, the SUVs are put on a real life test, as three of these vehicles have already begun their journey from UK, heading to India through the Ancient Silk Trail.
This will end in Mumbai, India on the 12th of October. The hybrid versions of these SUVs are powered by a 3.0-litre Diesel engine and they still retain the same aluminium body structure. The new generation vehicles were designed keeping the hybrid versions in mind, and hence it wasn't difficult to add the electric motor. The electric motor and the battery together weigh about 120kgs and they increase the fuel efficiency by 15%.
The bookings for these models has begun in Europe and the deliveries will commence in early 2014. The Hybrid version of the Range Rovers will not be available in the Indian market. The company also unveiled the 2014 Range Rover Evoque. This will be powered a nine-speed self shifting ZF transmission and Active Driveline.Read our story for more details on this new Evoque.
